Allen County is the largest county Habitat GFW currently serves. The majority of our Allen County builds are located in Fort Wayne, with a few in New Haven. Jessica is a mother of 4 and is the Director of Operations for a local Fort Wayne non-profit. After living in a 3-bedroom apartment for 4 years, Jessica’s rent unexpectedly increased by over $300/month! With a much higher rent payment in the budget, Jessica applied for the Habitat program to see if she would qualify for an affordable, stable mortgage.
After she was accepted in June 2022, Jessica was a trailblazer. Not only did she win the hearts of our construction crew through her willingness to tackle any job on the Habitat build site, she completed all 200 hours of sweat equity in under 100 days! She also kept her Habitat journey a secret from her children so she could surprise them with what they’ve all been dreaming of…a home all their own.
